TEAM ABSOLUTE FITNESS CHALLENGE

Team Aggression Fight Club was formed in 2000 as an outlet for its founder Jody Burke to retain training partners and a place to train for himself as well as other future Professional MMA fighters. Jody was a competitive kickboxer before entering into the MMA ring in early 2000 thanks to Mike Thomas and Paul Smith at IFC Battleground 2000 in Quebec . Jody then fought in UCC 3 (TKO) as well as the IFC North American Heavyweight Championships in Atlantic City and TKO 30 against Steve Bosse. His love and passion for the sport fueled his training and the training of others.Jody continues to train and training all Team AFC members as well as helping other teams and athletes reach their goals.

 The first member was young blood Derek(Derik) Tessier. A 4 time Junior Judo Nationals Competitor, Derek learned from Jody how to use his hands and feet and quickly became the youngest pro MMA fighter in Team AFC. At 17 years of age his pro debut was in California at IFC warriors challenge and punished his 25 year old opponent Ray Benavides before succumbing to a choke. He then fought in UCC future stars 3(TKO). Hard training and a brotherly relationship has always been the center of Team AFC and always will be.

Ray "BAM BAM" Noel is the Largest of the Team AFC members and a relative newcomer to the MMA fight scene but by no means an amateur. Weighing between 255-270lbs at 5'11 , his stature demands respect. Working closely with Jody on strikes and submissions, he keeps his focus on the GOLD!! Bam Bams flexibilty ,strength and murderous kicks and the ability to take all you throw at him with a smile on his face will make most people think twice about being paired against him. Bam Bam made his Pro debut in 2007 at TKO 30 under the Team AFC flag and made quite an impression. In fact, most who saw the fight , claimed it was the best of the evening, big remarks, considering Sam Stout, Mark Hominick and Jesse Bongfeldt also fought on that card.

The training curriculum has always been based on shootfighting (muay thai and submission grappling) principles as well as other helpful tools from other martial arts and even creating some new tools for both stand up fighting and grappling. The conditioning and flexibility has always been paramount at Team AFC. Even novices and experts alike agree that Jodys conditioning workouts are tough at any level. Even non-fighters have excelled in reaching their goals with his training. One conditioning workout with Jody and you'll want more.

 Team AFC will be able to have plenty of opportunities to dominate the Canadian MMA scene. With great partners like Erik Advincula of the famous Tiger Gym Muay Thai, and our helpful sponsors, Team AFC will soon be recognizable as one of Canada's premier fight teams. Team AFC will also be looking to fight in Japan ,Costa Rica as well as Europe and Brazil this year, provided funding is available. 

 With so many great fighters like George St.Pierre, David Loiseau, Jason MacDonald, Victor Valimaki and Mark Hominick originating from Canada, as well as World Class trainers like Shawn Tompkins and Angelo Exarhakos, Canada is firmly on the map as a competitive force in MMA. MMA has become the fastest growing sport in North America, as seen on Spike, Fight Network and TSN. Jody Burkes vision is to maintain and evolve both as a fighter and Trainer/Coach to all up and coming MMA athletes, Champions and everyone in between.
